Module 1 - Internet Tools

After reading about traceroute on the "How Stuff Works" site, made it seem a little confusing! But the part at the end made it easier to follow, stating that "it's very similar to the process that gets a postal letter from your mailbox to the mailbox of a friend, with routers taking the place of the mail sorters and handlers along the way."

Once i went to the site, http:// network- tools.com/ I typed in curtin.edu.au and found the list of 'hops' from that site to curtin.edu.au ; (i had to insert as an image because when i copy and pasted it, it would not insert as a table only a long list of numbers - which made no sense! & sorry that the image is blurry)

From the results, i found:

- There were 21 hops
- It took about 13ms from the network tools site to curtin.edu.au
- Curtins IP address is 134.7.179.53

I found this task quite simple as well, i guess thats why it is in Module One!
I have never used a site like the network tools one before, it is quite amazing how many little processes there are in one click of the mouse!
